As her mom puts it: ‘This girl just can’t stop moving. She’s always dancing!’

Given this interesting fact, it’s also her mom  who helps her join the marching girls of their   local marching band.

That’s where she debuted at the tender age of four, it s freezing out and she shivered from head to toe… but the big smile on her face was unmistakable.

Like many other little girls she started doing little sing and dance shows in her bedroom,  which her parents had to sit through completely.

She then went on to taking (jazz-)ballet classes, which led only to more private shows in the bedroom…

At the age of thirteen she was at a Dutch amusement park ,there she saw a belly dance performance. The mystique and grace of the dancers were what sold her forever to this dance form. She then knew that she wanted to express her passion for music thru dance .

When she finished her education, she started learning to belly dance with the help of video’s and she studied oriental belly dance with different teachers. Na’ima, Shanti and Jasmin Jahal were her teachers, who all have their own, unique approach to the dance.

Aveyanda loved what she did but she felt there was something missing . Her taste in music was too far from the oriental sounds she was dancing to.

After seeing Rachel Brice perform in late 2005 she recognized her true calling. She went on to learn more about Tribal and Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. A dance form that fuses classic belly dance with modern influences like hip hop, vogue and yoga.

Self taught from a stack of DVD’s she found herself a student of Carolena Nericcio, Fat Chance Belly Dance, Sahira ,Rachel Brice and many more.

In early 2006 Aveyanda Skye founded Tribal and Fusion Belly Dance Troupe Magenta Motion. Together with Lorelai Lee , she started performing within months and they began developing their own style within the still undefined  Fusion Belly Dance. This time, the music pleases her.

By now she has performed in Belgium, Holland, UK and Germany ,both solo, with Magenta Motion and with Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) &Wayne Sheehy.
